ALS "D Shostakovich" in Russian, 1p, 7½"x5", n.p., Jun 18, 1949. On beige paper to Sergei Vasilievich. Musical content. "...I am leaving you your libretto. I recommend to shorten some paragraphs, to add some things, and to change others to make it last 25-30 minutes..." In a postscript signed with his initials, he adds, "Libretto is very good. Don't take away a prologue. D.M." Darkly penned. Light general wrinkling; top and bottom edges slightly uneven; else VG. Est: $400-600
