782. SIR ARTHUR SULLIVAN (1842-1900). British composer best known for his collaboration with W. S. Gilbert in their famous comic operettas. ALS, 1p, 4¼"x6½", [London], Jun 13, 1889. On his imprinted "Queen's Mansions, Victoria Street" address stationery, Sullivan graciously declines an invitation. In part, "I fear I shall not be town on Saturday evening...I am hard at work writing. I am now only in town whenever business calls me. With many thanks..." Boldly penned and signed.
