CONTRACT FOR
"THE WAR OF LIBERATION IN HOLLYWOOD"783. AYN RAND (1905-1982). Russian-born American writer and philosopher who championed individualism primarily known for novels, such as The Fountainhead (1943), which defend political conservatism. TDS, 1p, 4to, New York, May 1, 1969. An agreement between The Objectivist and Erika Holzer to purchase for publication an article entitled, "The War of Liberation in Hollywood." Eight months after the dissolution of NBI, Rand signs this contract agreeing to buy Holzer's article, a critique of the cynicism of contemporary Hollywood cinema. The document is actually an old NBI contract for beneath the Empire State Building address is stamped the magazine's new address, that of Rand's apartment. Also, Rand has inked out two references to the Nathaniel Branden Institute and initialed the changes. Holzer's article appeared in the June 1969 issue of The Objectivist with Rand as co-author. Boldly signed and initialed. File holes at left edge; staple tears at right edge with little paper loss; blue inked line extends through body of text. Est: $3000-4000
