John A. Logan, General, Autograph Letter Signed, 1872. Signed Handwritten letter and engraving. Autograph letter signed from John Alexander Logan (1826-1886), U.S. Senator from Illinois, to the "Publisher & Ed" of the Daily Globe, 20 May 1872. Together with a black & white steel engraved print of himself as a Union soldier, reproduced from a photo by Mathew Brady. Letter: handwritten by Logan on lined paper, 4 3/4" x 7 3/8". Ink faded but readable. Engraved print: 5 3/4" x 7 3/8". Framed together, mounted behind glass with an orange (faded red?) mat in gold frame. Size: 17 1/8" x 12 1/8".
