Description

Highly carved 19th Century French oak canopy bed features four finely chased signed (see photo) bronze plates by Ferdinand Barbedienne (1810 - 1892) of Diana and attendants on the sides and foot of the bed. Barbedienne works have sold for tens of thousands of dollars alone. This superlative bed displays deeply three dimensional carvings of women, dragons, crowns, and nature motifs. Circa 1880s. Approximate Dimensions: External: 82" long X 68" wide X 97" high - Interior space for the mattress 75" long X 57" wide (just larger than double bed).
