IMPORTANT WORKS BY ALEXANDRE NOLL FROM THE WOLFGANG JOOP COLLECTION

One of the main focuses in Wolfgang Joop's versatile collection is the work of the French designer Alexandre Noll. The aesthetic of Noll's work reveals a happy harmony and an organic continuity, which has fascinated Joop ever since he discovered Noll's exceptional work at a time when the designer had not yet received the attention he does today. Wolfgang Joop's Noll collection includes important works of fine furniture and sculpture, many of which are illustrated in the following seven lots. Joop's passion for Noll's work resulted in the first Alexandre Noll retrospective exhibition in Germany, held in Schloß Charlottenburg, Berlin in 2000.

Born in Potsdam in 1944, close to the grounds of Sanssouci Palace, Wolfgang Joop has always maintained a close relationship with the region where he was brought up, and to which he returned to live in a historic villa at the Heiligensee. This may explain why, despite his modern and cosmopolitan lifestyle, he still highly values the "Prussian" virtues of punctuality, diligence and friendship. In July 2003 he introduced WUNDERKIND Couture, an exclusive women's wear collection which also represents the designer's wide-ranging interests, energy and flair, and his relentless drive to experiment and innovate.
