Urn, French, 19th century, urn with finely cast oval mounts with cupids and trophies of music on one side, other side with cupids frolicking in waves, finely cast floral festoons and scrolls, lid with [putti] and lamb, base with friezes of flowers and spirals flanked by fluted canted corners with swag, tassel and berry mounts on fine white marble, base marked "F Barbedienne" (Barbedienne foundry 1838-1891), 29-1/2 x 22-1/2 x 13-1/2 in., platform on base with scattered abrasions, surface with old light abrasions, retains virtually all original gilding Provenance: Elliot Stevens, New York; Private Collection, Raleigh, North Carolina Reserve: $20,000
