Description
A Gilt Bronze Figure of Vajradhara, Tibet, 17th Century, Finely cast in two two parts, seated in dhyanasana on a beaded lotus throne, his hands in vajrahumkara holding the vajra and ghanta, wearing a dhoti and a long flowing incised sash draped over his shoulders, further adorned with anklets, bracelets, armlets, earrings, necklaces and a five leaf crown all inset with turquoise, coral, lapis and garnet stones, his hair arranged in a knotted chignon with some tresses escaping onto his shoulders, the crown surmounted by a Vajra. The figure joined to the separately made lotus pedestal.
Height with red stand: 14.25 inches.

Note condition: upper figure lacking three mounts to lower base, inset stones missing throughout, surface wear and scratches to surface, losses to gilt surface, lower right section of sash missing, traces of paint on lips, hair and eyes.
