Description
Dated 1809, quadrant made by Wm. Clarke maker, London - Willm Pixley. Ebony frame, flat brass index arm, and ivory name plate. Theivory scale is graduated every 20 minutes from 5 degrees to 95 degrees and read by vernier to single minutes of arc. Inside the box is the label of David Baker, proprietor of a nautical instrument shop in New Bedford, MA during the second quarter of the 19th century. Similar one is in the Smithsonian. 11" wide x 13" tall.
