Ernie Lombardi's 1927 Oakland Oaks PCL Championship Ring
Property From The Estate of Ernie Lombardi
Through the decade of the 1920s, California's bay area was home to many fine baseball teams. Hard-hitting clubs from Oakland and San Francisco dominated the finest minor league circuit in the land, the Pacific Coast League. Received for his part in helping the Oaks win the PCL Championship in 1927, this award was originally presented in the form of a pendant. The round 18k gold piece features a diamond at center and Lombardi's name engraved on the reverse. It was later fashioned into a ring through the addition of a 14k gold band. Extensive usage wear suggests it was worn regularly.
