Twenty-two (22) 19th century photographs including a Niagara Falls daguerreotype and images from the Herr family of Kentucky (of the deadly Herr-Snook Wedding Tragedy). Includes seven (7) daguerreotypes of children, two (2) daguerreotypes of gentlemen, one (1) daguerreotype of a father and daughter, both holding a book (identified as Alfred and Jane Helen (Jennie) Herr), six (6) daguerreotypes and two albumen cartes de visite of females, and 1 half-plate daguerreotype of Niagara Falls from the American side, specifically from Prospect Point, with five figures left foreground. Unmarked but stylistically similar to Platt Babbitt examples, with brass surround and retaining 1/2 of the original tooled leather case. Plate sizes range from 16th plate to halfplate. Provenance: the Estate of Lynn Scholl Renau, Louisville, Kentucky. Note: Jane Helen (Jennie) Herr, cousin of the bride, pictured here, was one of those who became fatally ill at the infamous wedding celebration and subsequently died.
