**Originally Listed At $500**
Ancient Egypt, Third Intermediate Period, 21st to 25th Dynasty, ca. 1070 to 664 BCE. A lovely quartet of mold-formed faience fragments from massive ushabti figures. Each turquoise-hued fragment is depicted with its left leg extended forward in a striding pose atop an integral rectangular plinth. Three of the fragments display a seated animal resting atop the retracted foot, perhaps a lion or a baboon, and the fourth is shown with a pair of thick-maned lions flanking its legs. Each fragment displays nice areas of applied black pigmentation denoting details to the legs or animals. The striding position suggests these figures perhaps depicted certain deities or pharaohs, or were merely effigies of the deceased. Size of largest: 2.25" L x 1.5" W x 3.125" H (5.7 cm x 3.8 cm x 7.9 cm).
Provenance: private East Coast, USA collection
All items legal to buy/sell under U.S. Statute covering cultural patrimony Code 2600, CHAPTER 14, and are guaranteed to be as described or your money back.
A Certificate of Authenticity will accompany all winning bids.
