Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 2nd to 4th century CE. A beautiful free-blown glass cup made from a translucent, pale-green glass. The vessel a slight indented base with a smooth pontil scar, a globular lower body with an indented midsection, gradually-widening walls, a wide mouth, and a rolled rim. The upper body is decorated with a series of pattern-molded, diagonally-oriented ribs which terminate just below the rim and just above the midsection. Dense areas of silvery and rainbow iridescence cover most surfaces, imbuing the vessel with a bright, fiery appearance. Size: 2.3" W x 3.2" H (5.8 cm x 8.1 cm).

Condition
Surface wear and minor abrasions commensurate with age, some micro-bubbles, and light roughness across base and rim, otherwise intact and very good. Nice earthen deposits as well as silvery and rainbow iridescence throughout. Old inventory label beneath base.
