Description
Two (2) large Chinese or Korean Daoist Paintings, ink and color on paper, likely depicting Diyu, courts of the afterlife where spirits are judged and renewed in preparation for reincarnation. Yan Kings and their court officials are depicted in the top centers of the paintings, dispensing justice. Figures of subjects dominate the lower sections of the scrolls. Housed under high quality acrylic in custom giltwood frames with beige backing. Images approximately 64" L x 29" L. Frames - 85" x 46 1/2". Late Ming-early Qing Period. Condition
Not examined out of frame. Both with scattered staining, widespread creasing/cracking, and scattered repairs with some inpainting. At least one repaired tear (8" L). Scrolls appear to have been laid down onto newer, larger backgrounds.
