Description
American Federal Piano-Forte, manufactured by Loud Brothers of Philadelphia. Rosewood and mahogany case with contrasting dark line inlay, pierced panels on front top sides, cast gilt brass fittings, medallion and trim, gold gilt anthemion and signature tablet stenciling above a keyboard containing 43 keys, two dovetailed drawers to lower left and right corners of case with brass pulls, and carved cornucopia elements to lower edge corners, all resting on six ring and spiral turned legs ending in brass casters, and center spiral twist central leg with pedal. Partially legible inscription to top right of sound board reads "May 23rd, 1830". Case - 15 3/8" H x 68" W x 26 3/4" D. Overall - 37" H. Circa 1830. Condition
Repair to left rear side of case. Scattered losses to veneer. Top right side pierced panel damaged, pieces retained. Loss to gilt trim left side. Sound board intact. Most keys do not play.
