Vignette of a steamboat and a row boat, left, vignette of a goddess, top right. Serial Number 963. Secretarial signature for Sam Houston, President/Henry Smith, Treasurer signature. Housed in a plastic sleeve. Note: Sam Houston (1793-1863) was the Governor of Tennessee from 1827 until 1829, when he resigned and moved to Texas. Houston later became the President of Texas and its Governor. He is the only person in American History to be elected governor of two states by popular vote. 2nd item: Bank of East Tennessee, Knoxville $1 note, issued in Chattanooga, TN, March 1, 1855, printed by Danforth, Wright & Company of New York and Philadelphia.
