Description
Carl Sublett (Tennessee, 1919-2008) abstract watercolor landscape on paper depicting a winter scene with a copse of bare trees and shrubbery in the foreground and a hill covered in snow in the background. Signed "Sublett" lower right. Float mounted on cardstock and housed under glass in a wooden frame. Sheet - 14" H x 11" W. Framed - 22 3/4" H x 17 7/8" W. Mid/late 20th century. Biography: Carl Sublett studied Art History at the American Academy in Florence, Italy after World War II, and became Professor of Fine Art at the University of Tennessee. Sublett was a member of the National Academy of Design. His works are in the collections of the National Academy of Design, The Tennessee State Museum, and Cheekwood Museum of Art, Nashville. Overall good condition. Scattered foxing spots to cardstock. Not examined outside of frame.
