Description
Navajo Ye'ii pictoral rug depicting three (3) figures with alternating corn stalks on beige ground with colors of red, rose, pink, yellow, orange and green all within a brown border. 59" x 36". 1st half 20th century. Provenance: This rug was given to the consignor's parents in the late 1930's as a wedding present by Navajo Indians on the reservation near the Canyon de Chelly of Arizona. The original owner was a Civil Engineer working for the U. S. Department of the Interior as a land surveyor, laying out trails on the reservation. 1st half 20th century.
Condition
Two small, 1/4", holes in field, wear on all borders, and surface grime.
