Description
Two 19th century handpainted porcelain portrait or cabinet plates, both signed. One plate depicts a classically attired female sitting in a field with her chin on her hands, with raised gold and light blue moriage decoration on a cobalt ground, signed "Wohsener" on front, and "Lehsucht" en verso with additional overglaze Beehive mark (attributed to Vienna, Austria) and other, overpainted mark. The other plate depicts a young woman in fashionable 18th century attire and a large fur muff with raised gold and white moriage decoration on a blue/green geometric background, and is signed Tataun on front with Dresden mark and overpainted retailer mark (J & C Ovid) en verso. Both 9-1/2" diameter. Continental, circa 1890.
Condition
Classical themed plate has a couple of scattered pops to moriage beads but is in overall very good condition; other plate is in excellent condition.
