Description
George III sterling silver Neoclassical style tea service, marks for John Emes, London, 1805-1806. Includes a 6"H oval teapot with fruitwood handle and finial, open oval form sugar and cream jug, all decorated with engraved bands of laurel and guilloche, and central laurel cartouche on each side (no monograms), 30.06 oz troy combined weight; and a silverplated oval kettle with similar engraving and ebonized handle, stamped on underside J.T. 8, also likely English, circa 1900, 10"H.
Condition
Wood finial on Emes teapot has damage and losses, protruding screws and shrinkage to handle, and deep 1/2" dent to lower body near spout. Kettle has wear and possible repairs around base. Creamer and sugar in very good condition, all pieces with light surface clouding.
