Description
Nashville, Tennessee coin silver soup or punch ladle with plain fiddle handle, distinctive pointed fins at edge of bowl near handle terminus, marked "Richmond & Flint" within a rectangle (Barton Richmond and F. P. Flint, working Nashville, 1816-1823). Script "P" monogram. 14" L. 7.415 troy ounces. Note: Silversmiths Richmond and Flint supplied silver to some of Nashville's earliest residents, including Andrew Jackson. For a nearly identical ladle, used at The Hermitage by Jackson, see Tennessee Silversmiths by Benjamin H. Caldwell, p. 144, fig. 109. Circa 1820.
Condition
Overall good condition with general wear. Old solder-repaired 1/2" tear to edge of bowl.
