Walter C. Leavitt (Maine, 20th century), carved wooden ship model of the U.S.S. Constitution (also known as Old Ironsides), fully fitted with three masts, lifeboats, and flags; together with a wood and glass custom showcase. Note: Leavitt was one of the foremost builders of model ships in the first half of the 20th century. His works are in numerous museums, including the Addison Gallery of American Art in Andover, Massachusetts. He was also featured in the November 1939 Popular Science magazine, p. 141. Overall good condition with small hairline to interior glass of case, minor wear to paint on boat, some possible losses to rigging, flag colors significantly faded.
