Item Details

Description

French carved giltwood framed barometer. Classical style with acanthus-topped arched pediment adorned with medallions having carved monogram DS, the thermometer aperture framed by clusters of hanging fruit, the round barometer dial flanked by acanthus moldings over a molded cartouche with acanthus drop. 45"H x 18"W. Mid 19th century. Provenance: the estate of Lucille Svitzer Brady (Mrs. Frank B. Brady), formerly of Annapolis, Maryland.

Condition

Regilded with some later losses to gesso. Scattered restoration to cracks/losses at pediment and other carved elements. Works not checked or guaranteed.
