1st item: Hopi Kachina, Mudhead, cottonwood root and pigments (natural and commercial), with classic attributes, 6 1/2"H. 1930-40's, 2nd item: Route 66 Kachina, Hopi-made, Navajo Mana, pine and commercial pigments, with classic attributes of a Navajo woman wearing shirt, skirt, and featuring carved hair bun, 5"H. 1930-40's. Provenance: Property from the estate of Dorothy Louise Luhrs, PhD, (1910-1972), Archaelogist with University of New Mexico/School of American Research Field School, whose studies and research included the Una Via Chaco Canyon, NM, Largo Canyon, NM, Guatemala, Mexico, and the Hoopa Indian Reservation in northern California. Luhrs was also president of the Southwestern Anthropological Association from 1950-51.
