Item Details

Description

Palekh Russian ovoid cylindrical lacquer kaleidoscope. Each side has a hand painted vignette on one side there is a prince and princess in front of an autumnal landscape on the other side a boy plays a musical instrument in front of a building in the distance. The whole kaleidoscope is decorated with intricate gold foliate and cross hatching designs and rests on a stand also decorated with gold. One end is fitted with a brass looking piece while the other is fitted with to rotating wheels the outer one decorated with what looks like multicolored rock crystal while the inner one is also hand painted with gold designs and embellished with jewels. Signed and dated 1994. (Approx. 10"). From the estate of Eric Sinizer.
