In 1952 Harvey Braswell opened a small used furniture store and auction in Amarillo, Texas. A strong southern antique market encouraged Harvey to acquire his inventory from the Northeast. Progressing relationships with shippers led the Braswell family to migrate to the New York area where Harvey Braswell continued his business with the southern market.
Harvey’s son, Gary Braswell entered the business buying antiques and shipping them to the south. In the mid 1980's the southern market calmed, prompting Gary to open Braswell Galleries in Norwalk, CT. Braswell Galleries has grown from a small local auction house to one of the Northeast’s largest antique and auction centers with over 40,000 square feet of antiques and decorative home goods available for auction, wholesale and retail purchase.
Braswell Galleries has been selling in the Atlanta area since 1988 and is pleased to provide a full array of services at our new Peachtree & Bennett facilities located at 200 Bennett Street.
