LiveAuctioneers.com welcomes Doyle New York with an April 20 sale of Important Estate Jewelry
April 7, 2004
One of the country’s premier auction houses, Doyle New York, has enlisted the services of LiveAuctioneers.com and will introduce live Internet bidding to its customers with an April 20 sale of Important Estate Jewelry. This glittering event will feature a variety of significant estate jewelry from prominent estates and collections and will be highlighted by a private collection of Edwardian Old Mine Diamond Jewelry.
The sale will offer luxurious jewelry that spans the antique, Victorian, Edwardian, Art Nouveau, Art Deco and Modern eras, by such prestigious designers as Cartier, Bulgari, David Webb and Tiffany & Co., among others. There also will be an array of fine wrist and pocket watches, cufflinks and objets de vertu.
The private collection of Edwardian Old Mine diamond jewelry features six exquisite pieces descended through the family of the consignor. At the forefront of the collection is a fine Edwardian Old Mine diamond pin/pendant, circa 1912, in a stylized garland design. Also featured are three Old Mine diamond rings, circa 1915, by the Fifth Avenue jeweler E.M. Gattle & Co. During the early 20th century, E.M. Gattle & Co. was one of New York’s most esteemed jewelers, and pieces created by the firm are highly sought after by collectors today. The Gattle rings include two three-stone diamond rings and one two-stone diamond ring.
Auction highlights from other collections and estates include a delicate Edwardian diamond and emerald basket pin/pendant, a diamond ring centered by a fancy yellow diamond of approximately two carats, and a single-owner collection of charming antique Swiss enamel cameo suites and brooches.
LiveAuctioneers.com is pleased to welcome Doyle New York to its roster of distinguished auction houses. The complete, illustrated catalog for Doyle’s April 20 sale will be available to view online at www.liveauctioneers.com
