Fellows & Sons welcome autumn with a Sept. 2 auction of Antique and Modern Jewellery, Silver, Plated Ware, Coins and Medals
Aug. 24, 2004
(Note: £1 = $1.79)
The autumn session of auctions at Fellows & Sons starts with some of the most important pieces of diamond jewellery to be offered by the specialist jewellery auctioneers so far this year.
A fine-quality emerald-cut diamond ( Lot 25 - color D/E, clarity VVS1) of 3.03 carats is being offered with an estimate of £15,000-20,000. Another emerald-cut larger diamond of 9.66cts ( Lot 20) is catalogued with an estimate of £18,000-25,000, and a round diamond of 4.90 carats (colour K, VS!) will be offered at £12,000-18,000. There is also a diamond bracelet displaying in excess of 20 carats of diamonds, estimated at £22,000–28,000.
The Jewellery section of this sale contains more than 800 lots, with estimates starting as low as £20. The selection varies from period pieces of Victorian jewellery to modern jewellery set with fashionable precious gemstones such as pink and yellow sapphires, and tanzanite.
The Silver section contains collectible pieces from vinaigrettes to card cases, cutlery and table pieces, dating as early as the Georgian period. There is also a collection of both English and Continental gold coins from which to choose.
