J.K. Galleries celebrates new location with three January auctions

BOCA RATON, Fla. - After three highly successful years following its initial opening in Deerfield Beach, Florida auction house J.K. Galleries relocated to a new location in Boca Raton. To launch the new headquarters, J.K. will host a series of auctions on Jan. 1, Jan. 8 and Jan. 28, containing a total of 1,100 lots. LiveAuctioneers.com will provide the real-time Internet bidding facility so bidders may be participate from anywhere in the world.
Each sale will have a slightly different focus. The sale on January 1 will feature Art Pottery, Art Glass and Jewelry. The January 8 event shifts to Antiques, Collectibles and Jewelry; and the month-long marathon wraps up on the 28th with General Merchandise and Jewelry. Consignments have come from both living and deceased estates in Maine, Massachusetts, Philadelphia and several from Florida. The estate from Maine will contribute over 150 lots of American Art Pottery including a large 16in Roseville Earlham on a Carnellian II mold, 30 pieces of Roseville Futura, several experimental Weller pieces, a large Rookwood scenic vase by Shiryemondie and three extremely rare Peters and Reed examples. The Massachusetts estate element contains over 50 pieces of Loetz Art Glass.
Sales featuring Art and Art Glass will include an original large Peter Max painting, “Umbrella Man,” estimated at $8,000/$12,000, an original oil by Israeli artist Itzak Tarkay, who was a survivor of Mathausen concentration camp in World War II, $6,000/$8,000; an original Erte bronze “La Mysterious,” $10,000/$15,000; a Renee Lalique Archer’s Vase, $10,000/$20,000; and an original sculpture of a woman by Chaim Gross, $5,000/$7,000; in addition to a number of 19th century and contemporary paintings.
The Jewelry sections of all three sales will be quite large and will present items in platinum, gold, diamonds, Art Deco designs and will include treasures like 60 famous-name watches including Rolex and Cartier, and an exquisite 22ct diamond Art Deco brooch estimated at $20,000/$30,000. Included in the Antiques portion are a large Pairpoint Puffy lamp, $8,000/$12,000; and an artist signed Handel table lamp estimated at $8,000/$10,000.
