LiveAuctioneers moves into Irish territory, signs James Adam & Sons
Feb. 23, 2006
NEW YORK – In a move that furthers its progress into the European art and antiques market, LiveAuctioneers.com has signed an agreement to provide eBay Live Internet-bidding services to Ireland’s top fine art auctioneers, James Adam & Sons. Dublin-based James Adam & Son has been in business since 1887, and is the first Irish auction house to enlist LiveAuctioneers’ services. Adding real-time online bidding to their sales allows the company to gain a foothold in the global market and exponentially increase its client base.
“In our business, clients come first,” said Eamon O’Connor, associate director of James Adam & Sons, “and this new bidding system is designed with them in mind, to ensure they don’t miss an opportunity with any of our sales. Busy lifestyles, travel restrictions and different time zones limit some of our clients from bidding in person, so viewing and bidding online is a convenient, safe and secure option.”
Adam’s is known as a specialist in Irish antiques and art. The company’s March 8 Fine Art & Antiques Auction will be its first to feature Internet bidding through LiveAuctioneers.com. Adam’s catalogs – complete with lot descriptions, images and estimates – can be previewed online at www.liveauctioneers.com, where prospective bidders can register, then bid absentee or live online as sales are in session.
