Vectis’ Jan. 19 media memorabilia sale features James Bond collection
Jan. 5, 2006
On Jan. 19 Vectis will be auctioning a substantial single-vendor collection of James Bond and other film-related items. While most of the companies monthly die-cast toy auctions include a selection of TV and film items, this particular sale features a bumper crop of quality material centered around the highlighted James Bond items. In all, approximately 200 lots will be offered, including a wide range of props, signed posters, models and ephemera, some of which are accompanied by provenance and other documentation.
Additional items consigned by other vendors include a Corgi Magic Roundabout card display and Mego Wizard of Oz dolls, including the characters Dorothy, Tin Man and Scarecrow; and the Bionic Man and Woman. Other standouts include a revolver from Die Hard and uniform motifs from Aliens.
In this sale there will also be some excellent promotional cinema booklets (original-issue brochures given to movie theaters as films were released) dating from the 1960s. Many are in full color, including the 1963 booklet for Cleopatra, starring Elizabeth Taylor, Richard Burton and Rex Harrison; Spartacus, the 1960 film with Tony Curtis and Kirk Douglas; Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and many others.
