Windsor Auctions Vintage Movie Star Jewelry & Collectibles Auction - November 26th and 27th
Nov. 26th , 2005
On Saturday and Sunday (November 26 and 27) at 7:00 P.M. (EST), Windsor Auctions will present a treasure trove of hundreds of unique items owned by legendary movie stars and celebrities during its VINTAGE MOVIE STAR JEWELRY & COLLECTIBLES AUCTION. Live Internet bidding will be available through LiveAuctioneers.com.
The Windsor Vintage Movie Star Jewelry and Collectibles Auction will showcase personal items owned by Marilyn Monroe, Bette Davis, Joan Crawford, Lucille Ball, James Cagney, Jimmy Stewart, Sir Laurence Olivier, Judy Garland, Ann Miller, Grace Kelly, Marlene Dietrich, James Dean, Frank Sinatra, Errol Flynn, Betty Grable, Rock Hudson and many, many more. “One obstacle the company had to address was amassing and cataloging hundreds of items of considered importance and value to both the serious collector or fan,” said Paul Fischer, CFO of Windsor Auctions. “Selecting the items for these important events was challenging, as we sought to balance out the collection by way of selecting items, which offer appeal for their beauty, design and of course, the worldwide recognition attributed to the movie star and/or celebrity. While the collection includes jewelry set in 14-karat gold, the collection also includes uniquely designed pieces set with rhinestones.”
“No doubt, Marilyn Monroe collectibles are in strong demand,” Fischer added. Among the numerous Marilyn Monroe lots to be offered are magnificent rhinestone bracelets and necklaces (in excellent condition), a set of black jet beads and a pair of Ray Ban Sunglasses once owned by the blond bombshell. However, it goes without saying that items belonging to other film legends mentioned above will also be attracting strong interest from fans and collectors worldwide. Highlights of the collection include 14-karat gold cufflinks owned by Frank Sinatra, a diamond and gemstone pendant owned by Grace Kelly, a ring owned by James Dean and studio-identified clothing such as a hat worn by Humphrey Bogart.
The majority of the pieces in the collection were acquired directly through estate sales dating back to the mid-1970s and from respected private collectors worldwide. “These are truly one-of-a-kind items, which deserve the attention of serious collectors worldwide,” said Fischer. A certificate of authenticity (COA) accompanies each item.
Online bidding is expected to play an important role in this sale. “There is no doubt that LiveAuctioneers and Ebay Live Auctions provide our organization with tremendous support and a worldwide audience,” Fischer observed.
