LiveAuctioneers introduces Global Bidder, software dramatically decreases auction house workload

Sept 1 , 2005

NEW YORK – LiveAuctioneers.com, the company that, together with eBay Live Auctions, provides real-time Internet bidding capability to more than 300 auction houses, has announced details of its new Global Bidder system. Part of a larger technology package known as LADS (LiveAuctioneers Data Services), fully automated Global Bidder allows auction houses to eliminate many of the tasks that previously would have taken hours, if not days, to accomplish prior to and after a sale.

President and CEO Julian Ellison said one of the main benefits of Global Bidder is its ability to streamline the auction registration process. “With Global Bidder, an auction house has the tools to enable automatic approval of a person to bid online in their sales and also to set the criteria by which it approves bidders. As soon as a person registers online to participate in a sale, the auctioneer or his staff can immediately view that person’s contact details and eBay feedback rating simply by clicking a button. They can set the criteria for registration acceptance, basing it on the applicant’s positive feedback or other factors. It’s completely customizable.”

Ellison said once a registrant’s information is entered in LiveAuctioneers’ database, it remains there, in encrypted code, so it can be recognized by the software the next time that particular customer decides to sign up for a sale. “The auctioneer doesn’t have to do a thing. Once a person is approved, they are automatically able to bid in subsequent sales, unless, for some reason, the auction house decides to change that bidder’s status.” Ellison said this technological innovation, exclusive to LiveAuctioneers, has the capability of bringing in bidders by the hundreds – even thousands – before a given sale commences.

Global Bidder can be set so that, immediately after a customer has left positive feedback for an auction house, reciprocal feedback is automatically posted. The auctioneer pre-selects what his auto-feedback message will be, and can change it at any time. Examples of auto-feedback messages are, ‘Fantastic seller,’ or ‘Trouble-free transaction.’ “Previously, posting feedback has been a laborious task that auction houses have dreaded,” said Ellison. “Now the software takes care of it.” Best of all, Ellison said, the LADS software suite that incorporates Global Bidder is free to any auction house using LiveAuctioneers as its eBay Live Auctions facilitator.
