Green Valley Auctions to conduct its 13th Annual Fall Auction of Early American Glass and Kerosene Period Lighting September 22
Sept. 12 , 2007
Green Valley Auctions’ 13th Annual Fall Auction of Early American Glass and Kerosene Period Lighting Sept 19-22 will feature more than 10,000 pieces of Early American Pressed Glass (EAPG) from the second half of the 19th century and early 20th century in a huge variety of patterns and forms.
The most popular patterns are represented by collections of Horn of Plenty and New England Pineapple to name just a few. Rarities in additional patterns are highlighted by two sizes of the rare and iconic Early Thumbprint spherical covered compotes by Bakewell, Pears & Co. of Pittsburgh; a previously undocumented U. S. Coin spoonholder with ruby stained vertical stripes on the upper section; an extremely rare elliptical covered compote and milk pitcher in the ever-popular George Duncan & Sons Three Face pattern; and a fine opalescent Monkey table set in what Green Valley's Glass Department Head Karen Reed described as "the best condition we have ever observed".
Victorian glass will be represented by an exceptional collection of Northwood's Leaf Umbrella pattern in various colors including Cranberry, Rose duBarry, and Turquoise. The 60-piece collection was assembled over 20 years by Mike and Ronda Henry and includes the extremely rare breakfast-size covered sugar and creamer in addition to sugar shakers, vases, water pitchers, etc.
The lighting session of the auction will include a rare pair of Boston & Sandwich cranberry overshot stand lamps; other Sandwich lamps; cut overlays; fine opalescent Victorian stand and finger lamps; plus other scarce colored Victorian lamps.
The above material is all contained in the September 22nd cataloged session of the auction, which will be the firm's inaugural venture with LiveAuctioneers.com. To view the entire electronic catalog, visit www.liveauctioneers.com
