Rare daguerreotypes of Southworth & Hawes featured in Royka’s September 30 auction

Boston, MA - On Saturday, September 30 at 10 am (Eastern), Royka’s will auction approximately 300 daguerreotypes from the early photography collection of Jack Naylor, with real-time Internet bidding through LiveAuctioneers.com in association with eBay Live Auctions.

The special auction will include the rare images of Southworth & Hawes, a mammoth daguerreotype plate by John Adams Whipple, a full plate daguerreotype advertising the California Fireman’s Certificate Frame and other rare images. Of special importance are letters from Southworth & Hawes, including the lease agreement for 5 ½ Tremont St., Boston, where the famous daguerreotypists took portraits of the leading figures of the period including Daniel Webster, Charles Sumner & Harriet Beecher Stowe.
