A total of 762 items are for sale, with starting prices ranging from $100 to $20,000. “We are delighted to be working with Leslie Hindman and we’re confident this first sale will be a huge success,” said Julian Ellison, CEO and founder of Live Auctioneers.

Leslie Hindman began her career in 1982 as the founder of Leslie Hindman Auctioneers in Chicago, which quickly grew to be the fifth largest auction house in the country. In 1991, Hindman received international recognition for the discovery of a previously unknown still life by Vincent van Gogh, which sold for $1.43 million. As a result of her firm’s outstanding reputation, it was acquired by Sotheby’s in 1997.
For eight years, Leslie also hosted two popular television shows on the Home & Garden Television Network (HGTV), At the Auction with Leslie Hindman and The Appraisal Fair, which are viewed in more than 80 million homes across the United States. She is currently taking a break from her TV career to launch her new auction gallery. In addition, Hindman writes a weekly syndicated column for the Chicago Tribune called “What’s It Worth?” In February 2001, her critically acclaimed book, Adventures at the Auction, was published by Clarkson Potter, a division of Random House.
In November 2002 she opened Leslie Hindman Gallery in Chicago, specializing in 19th and 20th century American and European paintings, jewelry, furniture, and decorative arts. Her first sale will be held on September 28-29, 2003. By choosing Live Auctioneers to facilitate the sale through eBay Live Auctions, Hindman’s catalog will be available online to eBay’s 62 million registered users, who can bid directly from their desktop computer.
