Civil War, Militaria Collection of the late D. Coiner Rosen at Green Valley Auctions

Mt. Crawford, VA—Green Valley Auctions will offer nearly 500 lots of Militaria when it auctions the single-owner collection of Coiner Rosen Oct. 12. Rosen was particularly interested in UCV and related reunion material which constitutes the strongest component of the auction. As a young boy in the 1930s, Rosen began picking up bullets in the cornfields of his family's farm at Rude's Hill, VA. This sparked an interest in the Civil War which he would carry with him for the remainder of his life. Rosen could be found at many reenactments throughout the region and was a mainstay at the Confederate Monument and Cemetery in Mt. Jackson. He often purchased Civil War material at local auctions and was an avid relic hunter for over 50 years. In addition to UCV and reunion material, the collection includes Civil War books and paper, WWI & WWII material and more.

Firearms include: a Colt 1860 Army revolver, Richmond Armory musket, various US Springfield and Contract rifles/muskets, etc. Civil War materials include a good selection of buttons, belt and cartridge plates, swords and sabers, bayonets, canteens, leather goods, spurs, images, Crosses of Honor, Stonewall Jackson medallions, ID discs, Sutler tokens, etc.; large selection of UCV and reunion material including badges, ribbons, medallions, broadsides, etc.; good books and paper including Neese's "Three Years in the Confed.
