1983, "The Eagle Aloft" (Tom D. Crouch, 770 pp., hard cover with dust jacket.) A comprehensive history of the balloon in the United States, "The Eagle Aloft" is filled with new information gathered from a variety of primary sources and is well illustrated. The author was the former curator of the Smithsonian Air & Space Museum. Some faults to dust jacket and underscoring on some of the pages, but a very interesting read.
