Fine Wine and Spirits

This is a timed online-only auction without an auctioneer, commencing with lot 1. The auction will take place at our saleroom at Cambridge Road, Stansted Mountfitchet, Essex CM24 8GE. You will be able to place bids from 4.30pm on Friday 15 March and the auction will close in sequential order from 6pm on Sunday 24 March. A countdown clock is placed under every lot on the lot detail page for you to keep track on the time remaining to bid before the lot is closed. The sale will close one lot at a time, in sequential order. If a new highest bid is placed during the last 5 minutes before a lot closes, the end time for that lot will be extended by another 5 minutes until there are no more bids remaining. A lot of bidding activity happens in those final minutes, so keep monitoring the lots you are interested in. BUYER'S PREMIUM: A buyer?s premium, which is 18% of the hammer price (21.6% including VAT) will be charged on all lots in this sale. In the event that a lot is annotated IN BOND, this indicates that the item is under Bond and if released for delivery to a UK address will additionally be subject to UK DUTY and VAT thereon at 20% on the hammer price. VIEWING Wine and spirits held at our Stansted saleroom are available for viewing, by prior arrangement with our Fine Wine department finewine@sworder.co.uk. Images of lots for the purposes of condition can be viewed online and should be referred to prior to bidding. It is the responsibility of potential buyers to obtain any additional information (if any) on lots on which they intend to bid. Bottle condition, which encompasses capsule, cork, fill level and label condition, is only noted where it may significantly influence the estimated value of the lot. It is not our policy to open every unopened case, however, those that have been inspected may no longer have an intact lid. Ullage levels or bottle condition may differ from catalogue description as a result of transport or repacking by shippers, Sworders cannot accept responsibility at any point for failed corks or seepage, and no refunds are given. Each lot shall be at the Purchaser's risk from the conclusion of the auction until payment and collection are made. CONDITION REPORTS All items are comprehensively illustrated and some have detailed condition reports - see information at the foot of the lot description. If you require further information or images, please request a condition report by 12 noon on Friday 22 March by contacting us at finewine@sworder.co.uk or telephone 01279 817778. Please note we cannot guarantee condition of contents or quality of storage. No returns will be accepted due to defective contents and purchasers must satisfy themselves with respect to ullage. DESCRIPTION OF THE LOTS: Descriptions of wines are described as correctly as possible at the time of the publication of the catalogue. Vintages: Where a vintage cannot be ascertained from a label, it may still be noted based on cork branding, cellar records or other corroborating evidence including other lots from the same source. Bottle sizes are 75cl unless otherwise stated in the lot description. IN BOND LOTS: All lots are sold as duty paid unless marked as ?IN BOND? within the description and upon completion of the sale, all buyers of lots marked ?IN BOND? must notify accounts@sworder.co.uk of whether the purchase will be in bond or duty paid. Purchases confirmed as being in bond will be invoiced at hammer price + buyer's premium (+ VAT) and it is the responsibility of the buyer to ensure that any and all appropriate charges are covered and that the wine remains in bond until these charges are paid. Alternatively, purchases confirmed as being out of bond will be invoiced as hammer price + excise duty (with VAT of 20% added to both hammer and duty) and buyer's premium (+ VAT) charged against the hammer price. As of 1 August 2023, the duty cost of still and sparkling wines of 11.5% - 14.5% ABV is ?2.67 (+ VAT) per 75ml bottle. International buying can be tedious and stressful. They made this transaction very easy. They were very efficient in the whole process, and I received shipment very very fast. They communicated very effectively every step of the way. I highly recommend this auction house.
