when I told them I was going to pick up the item, after I fully paid price and commission, they charge the tax that I owed on my credit card without asking my permission. I was ready to pay cash and when I went there and ask to pay the tax, they told me they had charged on the credit card. I think this is highly inappropriate! What do you think?

I love the auction house but will no longer use them due to a shipping issue. I have never minded paying a little extra for shipping but this time the ups store went overboard on a $12 antique sampler. Virtually it weighs nothing. It honestly weighed less than 1 lb but ups tried to charge an estimate of $40-$50. I told them no thank you and ask them to remove the clothe from the frame and ship it and it still cost $24 and they said it weighed 2lbs. That is not true and for that reason I will no longer bid on the copake auctions.

the most professional auction house on the internet. They call the next morning for payment, arrange for pickup often times the same day and generally you receive your item within a week. Great follow through.

your survey does not seem to allow for a person to answer n/a to a question-for example, I did not have the item shipped, but it still required me to rate that question.............

Not with the auction house, but with your site in general. I would like to see what the buyer premiums amount is as I bid, similar to some of your competition.

I've done business with Copake Auction for over thirty years, both as a bidder and consignor. I have found them to be one of the fairest and most honorable auction businesses, and I have dealt with a large number. If people ask where to consign, I alway recommend Copake for all but extremely costly goods. Then it's Sotheby's or Christie's.

I honk the 20 % buyers premimum is a little steep. I get 15 % for buying on line, that way the auction house gets a fair share and you get your 3 %. Other than that, it was an easy and good transaction.

This auction house knows how to maximize their use of on line bidding. They have an outstanding outside shipper (UPS store) who picks up the smaller items, packs them securely and ships them for a very reasonable price. Many of the auctioneers who work with Live Auctioneers do little to facilitate the shipping process. One would wonder why they even participate in an on line auction. I have also worked with other Live Auctioneer on line auctioneers who recommend a shipper and that shipper tries to rip off the buyer with outrageous costs. Woody Auction in Kansas packs in house. They are the best. The real point I'm making here is that I follow these auction houses because they know how to ship and the bidder can be comfortable bidding with them. It only makes sense to get very involved with shipping if one is an on line auctioneer. John

Copake is an excellent house. I have purchased many items and Seth has always been helpful. I've also sold items through Copake and had a few excellent surprises.
