I have bought many works of art from international auction houses (Christie’s, Swann, Freeman’s, etc.) and never encountered anything like this. After I paid in full, Robert Slawinski Auctioneers failed to upload a proper invoice through LiveAuctioneers, charged my card automatically without offering the wire-transfer option stated in their own terms, and then unilaterally moved my purchased artwork — valued at $7, 000 + — to a third-party shipper (Pak Mail Carmel) without my knowledge or consent. That third-party shipper had no third-party insurance or custody coverage for a work of this value and repeatedly ignored my emails requesting transparent quotes, carrier details and photos of the piece. The quotes I finally received were extraordinarily high ($2, 400 – $3, 600) with no itemised breakdown. Despite my written instructions from day 1 to keep the piece at the auction house until I authorised a professional FedEx/DHL pickup, the auction house refused to provide basic verification of the artwork’s current condition, threatened to declare it “abandoned”, and obstructed my attempts to have it collected by my own carrier. At present I still have no photo evidence that the work remains safe and undamaged, even though I have repeatedly asked for same-day pictures of the front, back, corners and frame before pickup. This experience shows a serious lack of transparency, professionalism and duty of care toward international buyers. I strongly advise future bidders to demand written custody terms, verified insurance, clear packing procedures and condition photos before paying. Until the auction house provides proof-of-condition and cooperates with a standard pickup, I cannot recommend them. Avoid doing business with this auctioneer if you want to protect your artwork, money and yourself (energy, health) from unnecessary risk...

The only issue I have with this item was it was described as two pens when the one is actually a pencil. The pictures showed the pencil. So my fault Not a big deal. Ootherwise this was an easy transaction. Will definitely do business with this auctioneer anytime. They contacted me at least three times after the sale to make sure I was good with everything. Plus, the auctioneer does the shipping. Price on everything was good. One of the best auctions I have participated in. A five star experience.

The only glitch in the process was that it required a signature so there was a delay in receiving my items, but I realize this is for my own security and not the fault of the vendor. I purchased a lot with 2 items, and both items were high quality and even nicer in person than they looked in the pictures. They were well-packaged and were shipped promptly.

Robert and his team were very helpful pre and post auction. They made every effort to correctly present the item and their shipping was only one day after the auction.

The instruments arrived properly packed for shipping... all conversation with staff was pleasant and informative.

Interesting and unique items, easy pick-up.

I was under the wrong impression that shipping costs was included in all the buyer's premium fees. Then once I won the item, I had to deal with a third party shipping vendor to coordinate mailing details, as I was sending a Louis Vuitton item to a relative as a gift. I was shocked to learn the very high shipping costs, as I have dealt with other auction houses that don't even charge similar products for shipping, not to mention dealing with a third party vendor which entailed extra time and efforts. I will not be using this auction house again.

The vases I purchased from this auction house. Where packaged so carefully and professionally! Quick response when I asked about condition. I had an excellent experience and will definitely buy again from them.

The shipping costs for the item that I bought (to the Netherlands) were outrageous; a very helpfull lady of the staff arranged for me a shipping procedure that brought down the costs considerably. It is a pleasure to work with these people.
