Undisclosed dings on Sterling Silver bowls
My headline says it all. I paid top dollar for items that should not have had dings. The auctioneer did not disclose the presence of damage.

There was a mix of exceptional with unexceptional pottery in the lot.
The auction house listed the lot as "Assembled group of eight Native American pottery objects" which was little bit of a stretch since 2 pretty pieces were Mata Ortiz and one unsigned piece may not be NA. Mata Ortiz is a town in Northern Mexico and beautiful pottery comes from there, but it is not USA indigenous art. However there were 2 large pieces by one artist in the lot that were my focus and they are wonderful. All the pieces are in fine condition and the auction house itself was very helpful with a list of shippers and responded quickly to emails. I would work with the auction house again.

everything great except bidding ahead online
This was my first time doing an online bid into a real auction. Maybe I misunderstood but it really seemed like the auctioneer just jumped to my max bid, rather than treating it as a max. Next time I'd make sure I just put in a low bid and did my bidding live, but that definitely wasn't how I expected things to work. Descriptions were clear and correct and pickup was easier than I expected.

not with Roland but liveauctioneers
I won the item on 16 Jul 22, and received an invoice from liveauctioneers which had no shipment data and a tax of $47.53; I called Roland and they told me that an invoice with shipment info would be emailed on 18 July; I received the invoice (which had no tax charge) and paid it; I received the item on 26 July; but I then went back and found that in May 2022, I got two items from Roland and that I paid liveauctioneers a tax charge of $129.38; why does liveauctioneers charge me a tax and not Roland Auctions, New York??

Good Auction House, Expensive Shipping
The auction house is fine, the offerings of the auction were very nice, and it was pretty easy to communicate with the auction house. I KNOW it's not specifically Roland's job to get my purchases to me, but because of the unavailability of in-house shipping and the very limited external options, I had to pay many times the purchase price of my items to get them delivered, effectively erasing any price advantage of my purchase. They were small, flat items, and I'm still not clear why it cost so much to have them shipped. So I'm likely to pass up future opportunities to bid with Roland, just on the basis of the unfortunate fact that shipping costs are not competitive, and do not seem to reflect the true cost of packing and shipping. I'm sorry I can't leave a 5-star review. I think an auction house that markets to out-of-area customers should be encouraged to partner with customer-friendly shipping agents.

Item never received
I don’t know if it’s a scam or just bad customer service, but I have never received this item and went through their own recommendations on UPS shipping. I have no proof this was ever delivered, and even getting a tracking number took multiple emails and calls to all parties. Do not use this auction house … even though I paid insurance on this item, they are not helping in filing a claim as the site does not process. Basically … it’s a scam imo.

Problems with the shipper
Roland and the shipper I chose were both professional-the problem lay with the shipping company itself. The home office of the shipper was 1 appalled at the delay and the reasons stated for it and 2 instantly active in solving the problem.
