Easy to pick-up
I prefer Abell not only because of the items for auction but for me I'd rather pick up my items. Very easy. This is my second purchase and always look forward to their auctions.

Lost and not found by Abell Auction House

This is an excellent company!
I don't normally write reviews, but I had a fantastic set of experiences with this company and decided to write one. I had never done an online auction and got on one day to bid during a live auction. My items were coming up and I figured out I was not set up to bid and I frantically contacted the company and the owner, Don, immediately emailed me back and set me up. So I bid on my items and won some, paid for my items (which happened quickly and easily) and then realized I had no plan to get them home (large items). So I recontacted Don and asked for help picking a shipper. He was again very helpful. I ended up being in contact with several shippers (I chose the UPS store 2778 in Montebello, Byron Chan. He has packing videos posted on youtube and is also fantastic to work with!) because the items I was trying to ship were large and the cost of shipping was very high. Ultimately I recontacted Don and he helped me figure out a solution. He really did not need to do all the things he did for a (clueless) customer like that, but he did! How frequently does that happen anymore?? Anyway, this is a great company and I highly recommend them!

Thorough descriptions with great photos
I have been buying from Abell's for a number of years now, and am always impressed with their knowledge, and the thoroughness of the their descriptions. Since buying during these panedemic time, when I am not always able to view the pieces in person their descriptions, and photos have been invaluable. They are always highly professional, efficient, and I highly recommend them.

Good experience overall
Happy with my purchase, good communication with auction house. If I can recommend shipper it would be UPS store2778. Contact Byron, you will not be disappointed. Very professional, tells how it is and does what he said will do. The shipment was packaged like it would cost a million dollars and your life would depend on it. Excellent communication as well.

Beware the “not inspected out of frame”
Condition was described as “good,” but turned out to be glued to a backing board-potentially reducing the value by 60-80 % without restoration. To their credit, Abell’s divulged this unfortunate fact before shipping, allowing me to cancel. Art by blue-chip artists expected to hammer at near retail MUST be inspected out of frame to check for gluing, skinning, trimming, and any authenticating stamps (the Gemini G. E. L. ink stamp should have been on the back). I may well be banned from future Abell’s auctions for not proceeding with the purchase-but no-one should end up paying thousands of dollars for a near-worthless piece of cardboard due to an understatement of the true condition-intentional or otherwise. Newbie buyers take note!
