Uniques and Antiques was excellent to work with!
The experience working with Uniques and Antiques was very positive from the auction through the payment process, and including pickup. They accommodated the fact that i was travelling several hundred miles to pick up the items. If it were not for the distance i would certainly bid with them again!

Very easy process

Accurate description
It would have been helpful if the flaws had been more accurately described. It should have said one crack in the wood has been repaired and that there is another one inch crack in the wood that needs to be repaired.

"in the manner of" vs Responsibility
While I'm aware that the auction house is only consigning someone else's goods, and that it can be very difficult to confirm authenticity, in my opinion it's still the responsibility of the auction house to question that validity and if they have a hunch that it's a inauthentic then that should factor into their choice to consign it. Uniques and Antiques has sold more pepe mendoza pieces than anywhere else in the us combined over the last year. It might not be fully accurate, but it's un proportional to say the least. When asked about authenticity and origin it felt more like they didn't want to know than that they had looked into it. Selling a one of something and saying in the manner of is a very valid approach. Nobody can validate everything. It's too big a job. From memory it's about 15 pairs or single lamps, 8 sets of hardware in their last three auctions that I can think of. At what point should the auction house start asking more questions of the consignee to better protect their clients and more importantly the legacy of the artisan. The lamps I purchased seem to be an amalgamation of different parts, I believe the stems are table legs. The piece of true note is that the stems and the base both have patent stamps and that these stamps do not match. It's abundantly clear that they are not auctioning off authentic pepe mendoza pieces, which they make a paltry effort to state. I personally feel that just listing them "in the manner of Pepe Mendoza" does not excuse the damage they are doing to his legacy. In a market place that increasingly sees forgeries these types of actions only guarantee that we end up with another Feliciano Bejar situation. One where even his estate has a hard time identifying the authentic from the copy's. It's unfortunate that that is now a permanent aspect of Bejars legacy. It need not happen again.

Big fan of uniques and antiques
Pretty much everything was as described, the copper panels were a little bit of a disappointment but that's not the fault of the auction house. Possibly they could have been described slightly better, overall nequons I'm strongly recommend the auction house
