As explained by email earlier today, this is an unfortunate review for us to receive from you given how hard we have worked on the transaction. First, you paid your invoice almost 6 weeks after the auction, but we did not "ding" your bidder account with negative feedback. Instead, we shipped your items right away via FedEx. You received the package on December 10, and only notified us on February 3 that one of the items had what you claim to be a "repair that washed off under running tap water". This item was reviewed by an outside third party as a part of our condition reports prior to auction, and neither he, nor our catalog staff or photographer, have any notes about a repair. The photos show nothing that would indicate there was any problem with the piece. Art pottery is routinely examined under blacklight for condition reports-and the third-party expert who conducted the condition report recorded that it was in "excellent condition." Now, a new bidder who has bid with us for the first time notifies us TWO MONTHS after receiving a piece to claim that a chip in the rim was because of a "repair that washed off under running tap water"? The delay in replying to you was simply our team scratching our heads and investigating to see if there was any way we missed something, but I cannot find any evidence of that. Instead, I believe you chipped the vase in handling it, and are now fabricating a reason to make us take it back-including threats of negative reviews. We maintain excellent relationships with our fellow auction houses, and I am hopeful that our negative experience will save them from similar experiences with an irresponsible and unreasonable bidder who seems prone to use blackmail to force auction houses to take back her mistakes.
