KARL & FABER was founded in Munich in 1923 and is one of the largest fine art auction houses in Germany. Since 2010, Karl & Faber has been among the most dynamic art auction houses in the so called D-A-CH region (Germany, Austria and Switzerland) (Source: artnet). The house specializes in Old Masters, 19th Century, Modern and Contemporary art, with a special focus on high cataloguing standards and provenance research. KARL & FABER is headquartered in Munich with branches in Hamburg and Düsseldorf, and representative offices in Tegernsee, Basel, London, Italy, Austria and the USA. At its main location, KARL & FABER holds eight auctions a year. In addition to the auction business, KARL & FABER regularly organizes sales exhibitions of modern and contemporary art as well as conferences and discussion panels on aspects of the art market and art collecting. Every three years the company grants the KARL & FABER Art Award to an outstanding student from the Munich Academy of Fine Arts, in association with the foundation of that institute. The company is also committed to Munich as a location for contemporary art as a partner in the exhibition project Various Others and as sponsor of the experimental art space Loggia.
