10,000 Uniform Button Collection Auction

A collection of about 10,000 uniform buttons, both mounted on cards and loose in bags. There are more than 200 cards with most having 48 button, a few with less and several with 130. More than 60 lots oif loose button are available. Many of these are in plastic bags of 50 05 100; many in smaller lots. Pictures only show a few buttons from each lot. There are both US and foreign buttons from various periods. The collection of US Military buttons for the various services include pre Civil War tombac and other flat buttons; some Civil War {CW} buttons; many US eagle and State Militia Indian War [IW], Spanish American War [SAW], World War I and World War II buttons, including a number from the periods in between. Also included are buttons from a wide variety of US government agencies, including the Post Office Dept., Public Health Service, etc. Other agencies include a variety of Fire and Police departments, commercial enterprises, railroads, fraternal & veterans organizations, etc. There are diverse foreign buttons from WWII, WWI and before, from Great Britain, Canada, Germany, France, Belgium, Spain, etc. These include a wide range of military, commercial and others. There are, in particular, several cards and a loose lot of early British transport buttons, many for obsolete tramways, etc. This is an opportunity for both the collector and dealer to secure interesting, and in some cases, unique buttons not readily available on the market. In some cases, backmarks are iderntified. In many others, it was not practical to remove and examine hundreds of individual buttons. However, the general period is usually set forth.
