Modern & Contemporary Prints incl. Pop Art

An eclectic selection of sales from Bloomsbury Auctions, including books, coins and medals, vintage fountain pens and pencils, and starting with a fantastic sale of Modern and Contempory Prints.

The latter sale features many of the great names of 20th Century art. The Roy Lichtenstein print Reverie is his earliest, and arguably is his most important print. This particular impression is quite possibly one of the finest examples extant. Having never been framed, the colours, which have a tendency to fade in sunlight, are as strong and fresh as when they were printed. By their very nature the delicate surface a of silkscreen is prone to scuffing, however, the present work is in exceptional condition with no surface scuffing visible. It is quite possibly the best example of this important print to have come to auction in recent years and is estimated to achieve £70,000-90,000.

Elsewhere, familiar prints are from some of the 20th Centuries most famous artists, Andy Warhol, Marc Chagall, Lynn Chadwick, Salvador Dali, Richard Hamilton, Joan Miró, Henry Moore and Pablo Picasso.
