November 11 Gallery Auction

The best of all seasons is celebrated at Michaan's in November with "The Personification of Autumn," a female portrait from the pre-Raphaelite circle of Dante Gabriel Rossetti. Artists of the Bay Area Figurative Movement are also featured. Tiffany Studios glass illuminates the auction gallery with a rare pair of hanging sconces, a classic "acorn" table lamp and a pair of graceful "Aladdin" floor lamps. A massive carved wood Guanyin is one of many Asian art treasures of excellent provenance. Japanese woodblock prints include works by Joichi Hoshi, Tadashi Nakayama and Chiura Obata. A Steinway baby grand, caned and chrome Herman Miller chairs, and a Philip and Kelvin Laverne etched bronze side table are featured. Estate jewelry includes unique finds for holiday giving with estimates ranging from $300 to $25,000, among them Colombian emerald and diamond rings, Art Deco jewels, and a glittering menagerie of animal-themed pieces crafted of gold and precious gems.
