Unreserved MCM, Art & Antiques
Featuring a large offering from a long closed NYC gallery owner, MCM estate contents 'The Osborne', Rye, four generations from a Brooklyn brownstone, estate storage units Mid Century dealer collector along with several other small estates and gallery additions.
Included are a large polished jade Suiseki, a large Chinese carved jade vase, calligraphies, bronzes and a pair of chairs in huanghuali wood.
Traditional furniture includes examples of Continental and American, marble topped commodes, 18th Century inlaid travel desk, parcel gilt, Wallace Nutting Windsor, sets of chairs, Hartland Maine slant desk, carved mahogany, Victoriana as well several wrought iron sets including one from Helen Hayes' "Pretty Penny".
Mid Century includes a Nelson bedroom set, a Wormley Dunbar dining room set, Eames, Paul McCobb, Parzinger, H. Probber pieces, Vamo Sonderborg and a Hans Wegner ML-33 rocking chair & more.
A Hasting on Hudson octogenarian's parents were personal friends with Japanese ambassador Eikichi Araki and among the other items consigned to the sale were several presents from the ambassador as well as two photo albums documenting a shared trip to Japan in 1959.
A Sullivan County sprawling home's collection of country antiques includes stoneware, redware, coffee grinders, baskets, a gilt horse weathervane, victrolas, art pottery, architectural items, stick and ball pieces and an excellent 6 foot hardware store steel display stand.
Grand Tour bronzes from a Nyack collector complement an Egyptian Revival Sphinx clock, a E.B. Meyrowitz telescope on stand, an excellent spelter of an Arab oil merchant, a pair of bronze mounted porcelain glazed vases and a fine aesthetic bronze fireplace surround with birds are some of the finer goods in the sale.
Art in the sale includes 40 paintings from the Sullivan country collection with several early oils.
